Julie Sweet’s Biography:

Julie Sweet stands among the most influential leaders in global business, serving as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Accenture, a multinational professional services and technology powerhouse with a workforce approaching 800,000 people and clients spanning virtually every industry. Her rise to the top of one of the world’s largest consulting and technology firms defies the traditional corporate path: before joining Accenture in 2010, Sweet spent nearly two decades as a corporate lawyer, including more than a decade as a partner at the prestigious law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where she built deep expertise in complex governance, mergers and strategic counsel.

At Accenture, her legal acumen and strategic mindset translated quickly into business leadership. She was appointed CEO of the company’s largest regional division, Accenture North America, in 2015, before being named CEO of the entire organisation in September 2019 — a historic milestone that made her the first woman to lead the firm. Under her leadership, Sweet has guided Accenture through seismic industry shifts, from large-scale digital and cloud transformation projects to the integration and scaling of artificial intelligence across enterprise clients and internal operations.

Sweet’s leadership philosophy emphasises reinvention, adaptability and human-centred growth, urging leaders to think of themselves as reinventors in an era where technology evolves faster than organisations. She has helped shape a culture at Accenture that balances technological ambition with psychological safety, reinforcing a “progress over perfection” mindset that has contributed to Accenture’s ranking among the World’s Best Workplaces. This culture of agility has been central to Accenture’s ability to navigate rapid change, with Sweet championing continuous learning and reskilling — particularly around AI, cloud and digital tools — as essential drivers of sustainable organisational growth.

Beyond operational leadership, Sweet’s impact extends to the broader business community. She has been recognised by TIME as a transformative leader at the intersection of technology and societal progress, advocating for responsible and inclusive practices while steering Accenture’s growth in ways that consider both innovation and ethical impact. Under her guidance, Accenture has strengthened its reputation for harnessing emerging technologies responsibly while building cultures that support employees and clients alike.

Through her tenure, Julie Sweet has redefined what modern corporate leadership looks like, integrating strategic vision, operational excellence and a commitment to people-centred transformation at every level of one of the world’s most influential companies.

The appointment of Sasha Nash as the first female Wing Commander of the Red Arrows marks a defining moment for the Royal Air Force. For decades, the RAF, like much of the defence and aviation world, has been shaped by deeply entrenched male leadership. Progress has come steadily, but rarely in ways this visible. By taking command of one of the most recognisable teams in British aviation, Sasha Nash has broken a long-standing glass ceiling.

Wing Commander Sasha Nash’s Key Career Achievements:

  • 2026 – Appointed as the Wing Commander of the Red Arrows aerobatic display team of the Royal Air Force
  • 2006 – Graduated from Initial Officer Training
  • 2005 – Joined the Royal Air Force
  • Former Member of Hampton School Combined Cadet Force & East Midlands Universities’ Air Squadron
  • Completed the Operational Conversion Unit, posted to the 31 Squadron at RAF Marham, deployed on operational tours in Afghanistan
  • Qualified Flying Instructor, instructing fast-jet pilots on the Tucano at RAF Linton-on-Ouse
  • Posted to the Combat Air Desk at Air Command
  • Former Squadron Commander at the Royal Air Force Officer Training Academy

Sasha Nash speaking on appointment as Officer Commanding RAF Red Arrows

Sasha Nash’s Biography:

Wing Commander Sasha Nash is a senior Royal Air Force officer, currently working as the Commanding Officer of the Red Arrows, whose career places her at the sharp end of performance under pressure. With over two decades of experience in fast-jet operations, Sasha brings rare credibility to conversations around critical decision-making, leadership and sustained peak performance in high-risk environments.

Educated at the University of Leicester, Sasha gained a degree in Psychology with Sociology, developing an early interest in human behaviour, motivation and decision-making – an academic grounding that has shaped her approach to leadership. Her aviation journey began through the Hampton School Combined Cadet Force and the East Midlands Universities’ Air Squadron, before joining the Royal Air Force in 2005. By 2006, Sasha had completed her Initial Officer Training, gaining her coveted wings.

Sasha Nash quote

Selected to become an esteemed fast jet pilot, Sasha progressed to fly the Tucano and the Hawk T1 before she was chosen to fly the Tornado GR4. Having completed her Operational Conversion Unit, Sasha was then posted to 31 Squadron at RAF Marham, flying operational tours across Afghanistan. Such deployments demanded that Sasha demonstrate calm judgement, often finding herself speaking to her teams on how to perform under extreme pressure, rapidly perform risk assessments and show consistency when the stakes are high.

Later in her career, Sasha was trained to become a Qualified Flying Instructor, inspiring the next generation of fast-jet pilots with her ability to remain calm under pressure and sharp analytical thinking. Based at RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Sasha helped students navigate their training aboard the Tucano with ease. Her career has also included strategic roles, including a posting to the Combat Air Desk at Air Command and a tour as Squadron Commander at the Royal Air Force Officer Training Academy.

Promoted to Wing Commander in 2026, Sasha is now working as Officer Commanding RAFAT, better known as the Red Arrows. Alongside this, Sasha is responsible for the role of Chief of Staff in the Display Wing Headquarters, leading 150 people at RAF Waddington, working with both the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Sasha Nash – Leading RAF Voice on Risk, Performing Under Pressure & Critical Decision-Making:

Sasha Nash Quote

Sasha Nash has built a powerful and practical skill set through a Royal Air Force career spent performing under constant pressure. Fast-jet operations demand calm thinking, rapid decision-making and disciplined preparation. Alongside this, Sasha has been a visible advocate for diversity and inclusion within the military, using her platform to challenge outdated norms and widen who feels they belong in high-performance environments. These experiences have shaped how she leads, how she speaks, and how she supports others to perform at their best when the stakes are high.

Clear speaking is essential in aviation, where briefings, instructions and decisions must be understood instantly. As an instructor and commander, Sasha learned how to speak with clarity, confidence and intent. She also understands how inclusive leadership and language directly affect trust, safety and performance, particularly in teams made up of people with different backgrounds and experiences. These skills apply as much to boardrooms and conference halls as they do to the cockpit.

When speaking, Sasha draws on lived experience to explore performance, resilience and inclusion. She shares real situations where behaviour, leadership choices and representation mattered, including navigating and challenging gender stereotypes within the RAF and the Red Arrows. Her talks show how high standards and inclusive cultures reinforce each other, creating teams that perform better under pressure and individuals who feel empowered to succeed.

Gender equality refers to the fair treatment and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their gender, ensuring equal access to resources, rights, and decision-making. It promotes the elimination of gender-based discrimination and fosters an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Why is Gender Equality Important?

Gender equality is essential for building a fair and just society. Despite progress, women still earn on average 16% less than men as of 2024, highlighting persistent wage disparities. Additionally, girls aged 5-14 globally spend 160 million more hours each day on unpaid care and domestic work than boys of the same age, limiting their opportunities for education and personal growth. Addressing these imbalances is crucial for empowering women and girls, fostering economic development, and creating equitable opportunities for everyone.

Sources: Forbes & UNICEF

Why Should I Hire a Gender Equality Speaker?

Hiring a gender equality speaker for events can greatly benefit companies by addressing an issue that studies reveal, 80% of people consider personally important. With women making up 42% of the global workforce but only 31.7% of senior leaders, there’s a clear need for change in nearly every industry. A speaker can inspire actionable strategies to close these gaps, fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace that benefits both employees and business success.

Pride Month is celebrated annually, from the 1st to the 30th of June. A time for mass celebrations, Pride Month honours the achievements made by the LGBT+ community throughout history and celebrates their freedom within society. A fantastic addition to Pride Month events is hiring a powerful female LGBT+ speaker, who will share their personal story as a member of the LGBT+ or passionately advocate for LGBT+ inclusion across society.

What Is Pride Month?

Pride Month is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting LGBT+ inclusion and uplifting the voices of the LGBT+ community. Across the globe, a variety of Pride parades take place, celebrating the political activism and achievements made by the LGBT+ community throughout history.

Promoting acceptance and equality for the LGBT+ community, Pride Month is also a time for people who identify as LGBT+ to show pride in their sexual orientation and gender identity. It can also be a time during which the LGBT+ community campaigns for equal rights, such as same-sex marriage or protection from cruel conversion therapy.

Also a time for education, Pride Month is a fantastic time to educate yourself on LGBT+ history and the injustices the community has faced throughout history. There is no single Pride theme – it differs between organisations – so why not make your own? Consider the LGBTQ+ issues important to you!

Who Organised The First Pride March?

In 1969, the first LGBT+ Pride parade held in New York City was organised by Fred Sargeant, Ellen Broidy and Linda Rhodes. In the UK, a man named Peter Tatchell helped to organise the UK’s first LGBT+ Pride march, with a team of 30 others who planned the march on the 1st of July 1972.

Working hard to shatter the glass ceiling, women continue to make strides in leadership, innovation, and performance – yet the journey is far from over. At the Female Motivational Speakers Agency, our roster of inspiring women covers topics from leadership and tech to mental health and peak performance, ready to energise any audience. In this blog, we take a whistle-stop tour through key statistics that show why hiring a female motivational speaker is not just a progressive choice – it’s a powerful one. Empowering your female workforce and challenging the status quo starts with the voices you choose to amplify.

The Business Case for Women’s Voices

Women in leadership play a vital role in driving organisational success. Their presence fosters inclusive cultures, strengthens resilience, and enhances decision-making. Companies that embrace gender diversity at the top are better positioned to thrive in today’s competitive and rapidly evolving business environment. Prioritising women in leadership is not only a matter of fairness but also a smart strategic move that fuels innovation and long-term growth. Here are some of the statistics to prove it.

Where Women Stand Today

Despite growing awareness of the value women bring to leadership, they remain underrepresented in senior roles. Progress is slow, highlighting the urgent need for real, lasting change. Achieving gender equality demands more than promises – it requires ongoing, accountable action from organisations committed to closing the gap.

The Diversity Deficit

The leadership gap persists across all demographics, with women from every racial and ethnic background underrepresented in senior roles. This inequality is even more pronounced for women of colour, who face compounded barriers. True progress requires an intersectional approach that addresses not just gender, but also the impacts of race and ethnicity on leadership opportunities.

Closing the gender gap in leadership is not merely a matter of time – it’s a test of collective will and sustained action. While white women are projected to reach parity in leadership within 22 years, women of colour may be waiting nearly half a century – a sobering 48 years – for equal representation. On average, full gender parity remains almost 50 years away. These numbers are more than statistics; they are a call to action. To accelerate change, we must commit to amplifying women’s voices, especially those most marginalised. By championing female leaders and choosing to platform women who inspire, challenge, and lead, we can reshape the future of business and society – not in decades, but starting today.

In the workplace, psychological safety is a key factor in the creation of healthy teams. When employees feel comfortable asking for help, sharing suggestions, and challenging industry beliefs, businesses are more likely to see an increase in productivity, unlock the benefits of diversity, and adapt effectively to change. The term ‘psychological safety’ has been utilised by Amy Edmondson since 1999, and continues to remain an important topic throughout the corporate industry to this day.

What is Psychological Safety?

Psychological safety, coined by Amy Edmondson in 1999, is the shared team belief that members can openly express ideas and concerns, admit mistakes, and ask questions without fear of negative consequences. Her research revealed that teams with better psychological safety might report more errors, not because they make more, but because they feel safe acknowledging them. This isn’t just an individual feeling but an emergent property of the group, promoting candid communication and fostering environments where creative ideas thrive without judgment. Beyond just enhancing wellbeing, psychological safety enhances team effectiveness, learning, retention, and decisiveness. A McKinsey survey found that 89% of employees deem it essential in workplaces.

How Can Leadership Create a Psychologically Safe Environment?

Leadership holds a pivotal role in shaping the psychological safety of a team. A leader’s emotional demeanour echoes throughout the organisation, influencing the openness and creativity of conversations. A climate of patience, hopefulness, and curiosity from the leadership empowers teams to tackle challenges innovatively. By establishing a foundation of trust, leaders can drive teams beyond their perceived limits. Effective leaders serve as catalysts, endorsing behaviours that nurture safety even from non-authoritative figures. Crucially, our research underscores the significance of a positive team climate, where mutual respect and well-being prevail, as the primary driver of psychological safety. Especially in times of change, such as the shift to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, fostering a favourable team atmosphere ensures resilience and adaptability.
