Helena Kennedy is a Barrister and a Labour Member of the House of Lords. Highly passionate about championing rights, Helena has heavily focused on women’s rights along with championing more women pursuing a career in the law profession. Having continually raised awareness of the discrimination women face and the absence of women in law, Helena Kennedy is now often booked as a female motivational speaker for corporate events.

As a Barrister, Helena was called to the bar at Gray’s Inn and worked on prominent cases such as child murderer, Myra Hindley. For the following 30 years, Helena was highly committed to her legal profession and worked on cases such as the Guilford Four appeal, the Brighton Bombing and various homicide cases. Outside of law, Helena has also been heavily involved with politics- having been a Labour member of the House of Lords and the Chair of Charter 88.

Other prominent roles of Helena’s include being the Chair of the Further Education Commission and the presenter of Heart of the Matter, Raw Deal on Medical Negligence, The Trial of Lady Chatterley’s Lover, After Dark and Time Gentleman, Please. She has also been named as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and been the Principal of Mansfield College, Oxford. Her commitments throughout her career have been highly praised, awarded the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Times Newspaper and appointed Life Peer Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws.
