Dame Theresa Villiers DBE is a renowned female motivational keynote speaker, whose extraordinary career in politics, law and public service has inspired countless audiences. With a passion for leadership, empowerment and resilience, Theresa draws on her rich and varied experience at the highest levels of government to deliver compelling insights into navigating complex challenges, breaking barriers, and driving meaningful change. As one of only 35 women ever appointed to the UK Cabinet, she stands as a role model for women aspiring to lead in traditionally male-dominated spheres.

Theresa began her professional journey as a barrister at Lincoln’s Inn and a lecturer in property and trusts law at King’s College London, later becoming co-author of the legal textbook ‘The Law of Waiver, Variation and Estoppel’. She entered politics as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for London, where she played a pivotal role in shaping EU financial services legislation, including acting as rapporteur for the first Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). Elected as MP for Chipping Barnet in 2005, Theresa swiftly rose to prominence, becoming Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury just seven months into her Parliamentary career, one of the fastest promotions in modern political history. She then served as Minister of State for Transport, overseeing major infrastructure projects like Crossrail (the Elizabeth Line) and delivering the complex transport operation for the London 2012 Olympics.

Theresa’s Cabinet appointments reflect the trust placed in her leadership during some of the UK’s most challenging times. As Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, she navigated highly sensitive peace negotiations, chairing two intensive cross-party talks that successfully preserved the devolved institutions established under the Belfast Good Friday Agreement. She managed crises including the 2013 Northern Ireland flag protests and the 2015 political controversy surrounding paramilitary groups, while also securing significant inward investment for Northern Ireland. Later, as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Theresa was responsible for an £8.2 billion budget and led Brexit preparations for food trade and border arrangements. She introduced landmark legislation, including the Fisheries Act, Agriculture Act, and Environment Act, ensuring domestic control over UK fishing waters and establishing new environmental protections.

A powerful and engaging speaker, Theresa has addressed diverse audiences in locations including the UK, Brussels, Strasbourg, Washington, New York, and Dublin. Her speaking engagements cover a wide range of topics, from leadership and political resilience to diversity, inclusion and female empowerment. Known for her clarity, integrity and depth of experience, Theresa motivates audiences to overcome adversity, embrace opportunity and lead with confidence and conviction. Her dedication to advocating for minority communities, standing against antisemitism, and supporting women’s leadership makes her a truly inspirational figure for those aspiring to make a difference.
