As Captain of Chelsea FC Women and interim Captain of the England Lionesses, Millie exemplifies what it means to break barriers and lead with courage. Her journey from a small town in Derbyshire to standing tall on the world stage has made her a role model for aspiring athletes and women in leadership. Millie’s story is one of perseverance, overcoming childhood illness, and defying the odds to become one of football’s most respected figures. She delivers motivational keynotes that encourage women and girls to dream big, lead boldly, and rise above challenges.

Millie’s football journey began at the age of nine when she joined Killamarsh Dynamos. Having faced serious health issues as a child, including pneumonia and chronic asthma, she has always been driven by a fierce determination. Rising through the ranks at Sheffield United’s academy, Millie made her senior debut with Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2009, before signing with Chelsea FC Women in 2014. Her defensive skill, leadership on the pitch, and commitment to the team saw her appointed Chelsea Captain in 2023, following the departure of Magdalena Eriksson. Millie has since led the team to multiple domestic and international successes, firmly establishing herself as one of the game’s elite leaders.

As part of the England Lionesses, Millie played a pivotal role in the team’s historic UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 victory and captained England to their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup Final in 2023. Her resilience and leadership have been instrumental in transforming England into a global football powerhouse. Recognised for her contributions to the sport, Millie was honoured as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2024. Her accolades include being named in the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World11 twice and earning a place in the PFA Team of the Year multiple times.
