Mel Schilling is an internationally recognised relationship expert, confidence coach and television commentator, best known for her long-standing role on Married at First Sight Australia. For 12 seasons, Mel guided couples and audiences through complex emotional dynamics, becoming a trusted authority on modern relationships. She is widely hired as a female motivational speaker for her practical psychology expertise, candid communication style and powerful personal story, particularly following her public battle with colon cancer and subsequent remission announcement in 2025.

Mel’s professional foundation is grounded in psychology and human behaviour. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Deakin University, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Victoria University. In 2003, she founded Extraversion Consulting, working with organisations on behavioural insight and leadership development. A decade later, she became the first Australian accredited by the International Dating Coaching Association, before being appointed Dating and Relationship Expert for eHarmony Australia in 2014. Her evidence-based approach to communication and compatibility quickly elevated her profile internationally.

Mel joined ‘Married at First Sight Australia’ in 2016 as the resident relationship expert, a role she held for over a decade before stepping down in 2026. In 2021, she expanded her television presence to the UK as a Relationship Coach and Expert Panel Member on ‘Married at First Sight UK’, alongside regular appearances on programmes such as ‘This Morning’. In 2019, she launched a full-time Confidence, Relationships and Success coaching practice in the UK and authored ‘The C Word’, a book focused on reframing fear and building authentic self-belief. Her openness about her colon cancer diagnosis in 2023 and her remission in 2025 further strengthened her advocacy for resilience and proactive wellbeing.

Mel is hired as a motivational speaker because she combines psychological expertise with lived experience. She speaks with authority on confidence, emotional intelligence and relationship dynamics, while also addressing adversity, health challenges and personal reinvention. Her warmth, clarity and practical frameworks make her an empowering voice for female audiences and organisations seeking meaningful conversations around confidence, communication and courageous leadership.
