Eve Pollard OBE is a trailblazing British journalist, editor, and broadcaster widely recognised as one of the most influential women in media. Known affectionately as “The First Lady of Fleet Street,” she has long been a champion for women in journalism and media equality. As a motivational speaker, Eve brings decades of pioneering experience, personal insight, and fearless leadership to audiences, particularly inspiring women to break barriers and excel in male-dominated fields. Her credibility as the second ever female editors of a national newspaper in the UK makes her an exceptional voice on leadership, resilience, and the evolving role of women in media and society.

Eve began her career in 1967 at Honey magazine, where she quickly rose to become fashion editor. By the early 1970s, she had secured a key editorial role at the “Daily Mirror”, marking the beginning of her impressive ascent through the British press. Her flair for journalism and ability to spot talent – such as supporting Delia Smith’s first book – quickly established her as a force to be reckoned with. In the mid-1980s, Eve launched the American edition of “Elle” magazine as its first editor-in-chief, further cementing her international reputation. She went on to edit the “Sunday Mirror” and “Sunday Express”, becoming only the second woman ever to edit a national newspaper in the UK.

Her career continued to flourish in later years with significant achievements. In 1992, she founded Women in Journalism, an organisation dedicated to supporting and advancing female journalists. She became Vice-Chairman of the women’s health charity Wellbeing of Women in 2003 and was appointed the first Chair of Reporters Without Borders UK in 2016. Eve was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to journalism and was honoured again in 2019 as Journalist Laureate by the London Press Club. She has also ventured into fashion, launching a clothing line aimed at stylish older women, reflecting her continued innovation and connection with her audience.

Eve is frequently hired as a motivational speaker because she embodies the spirit of progress, adaptability, and determination. With her sharp wit, deep industry knowledge, and unwavering commitment to empowering women, she connects effortlessly with diverse audiences. Whether speaking on leadership, media, fashion, or female empowerment, Eve offers a compelling blend of experience, humour, and inspiration that leaves a lasting impact.
