Debra Searle is widely known as an adventurer, businesswoman and TV presenter, who competed in the Ward Evans Atlantic Rowing Challenge– sailing from Tenerife to Barbados across the Atlantic Ocean alone after her husband was rescued, spending over 3 months at sea. Also a founding member of The Business Women’s Network Forum, Debra is now booked as a female motivational speaker to share stories of her solo adventure along with topics of excelling during periods of change, positive relationships, personal performance and choosing your attitude.
A successful businesswoman, Debra is the founder of Brave Girl Media, Shoal Projects Ltd, The Well Hung Art Company, Your Speaking Career and MIX Diversity Developers. Currently, Debra is working as the Head of Consultancy for MIX Diversity Developers, challenging organisations to take on new approaches to workplace diversity and inclusion. Focussing on unconscious bias, diversity, cultural change and inclusion, Debra also led the LeasePlan Women’s Atlantic Arctic Challenge. Also the CEO of Shoal Projects Ltd, Debra created this company to support her passion for adventure.
Other prominent roles of Debra’s include being a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a TV presenter for the BBC. She has formerly presented the likes of Grandstand and Big Strong Boys and Builders, Swear and Tears- amongst 40 other programmes. Debra has also claimed gold, silver and bronze in the Dragon Boat Racing World Championships and been recognised by the Queen with the appointment of MBE and MVO. She has also been nominated for the European Inspirational Role Model and Diversity Champion of the Year Award 2015 and the National Positive Role Model of the Year.
