Charlene White is a pioneering presenter, journalist, and inspiring female figure who has redefined representation in UK media. As the first Black woman to present ITV News at Ten, she has paved the way for greater diversity in journalism. It all began in 2002 when she joined Radio 1 Newsbeat and BBC Radio 1Xtra, where she honed her skills as a reporter and developed a keen sense of investigative storytelling. In 2008, she made the move into the world of television, joining ITN, where she became a trusted voice in British news. Her dedication and professionalism led to her being the first Black woman to anchor ITV News at Ten in 2014, a defining moment that showcased her ability to lead in high-pressure environments. Throughout her career, she has been an advocate for inclusivity, carving a new path for the next generation of women and journalists from diverse backgrounds.

Beyond the newsroom, Charlene has continued to influence and empower women through her work on Loose Women, where she became a regular anchor in 2020. Here, she has sparked meaningful discussions on issues such as race, gender equality, and personal resilience, encouraging open and honest conversations. She has also fronted impactful documentaries, including Empire’s Child and Has George Floyd Changed Britain?, tackling difficult topics with depth and insight. Most recently, in 2024, she published her book No Place Like Home, sharing her personal journey and the complexities of identity.
