Fern Lulham is a blind psychotherapist, keynote speaker, accessibility consultant and broadcaster who explores the human side of change, inclusion and belonging. Combining professional expertise in psychology with lived experience of blindness, Fern helps organisations understand how people respond to uncertainty, pressure and transition, and what leaders can do to support wellbeing and engagement. Her speaking style blends psychological insight, humour and personal storytelling, allowing her to challenge assumptions while making complex subjects memorable and accessible. Fern is hired as a female motivational speaker for her ability to connect inclusion, resilience and human behaviour with practical lessons for modern workplaces.

Fern’s career began in broadcasting, where she developed the communication skills that would later become central to her speaking work. After studying radio at the University of South Wales, she continued her education in communication and broadcasting at Western Carolina University. She held a range of on-air and management roles across student, hospital and commercial radio, progressing to Programme Director and General Manager at WWCU-FM Power 90.5. Fern later worked with organisations including Insight Radio and Accessible Media Inc., before expanding into BBC broadcasting and production. Since 2018, she has worked as a reporter and presenter for BBC Radio 4, alongside producing programmes and podcasts for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.

In recent years, Fern has broadened her work across accessibility, psychotherapy and organisational development. Since 2019, she has worked as an accessibility consultant, advising on how products, venues, media, storytelling and digital experiences can become genuinely inclusive. She has also worked as an audio describer for ITV and as a CPD training facilitator. In 2022, Fern qualified as a psychotherapist, supporting clients with issues including anxiety, relationships, shame, grief and belonging. This clinical work strengthened the psychological foundation of her speaking, enabling her to address leadership, burnout, psychological safety and workplace inclusion with both professional depth and lived understanding.

Fern is hired as a motivational speaker because she brings credibility, warmth and an original perspective to conversations around resilience and inclusion. Her TEDx talk exploring online dating through the experience of blindness has attracted more than 85,000 views, demonstrating her ability to make personal experiences universally relevant. Through engaging stories and psychological insight, Fern helps audiences understand what people need to adapt, connect and thrive. Her work is particularly valuable for organisations seeking to create stronger cultures of belonging, improve wellbeing and lead people more effectively through change.
